In California, a dog is being called a hero after helping rescue a man who fell 70 feet down a cliff in Tahoe National Forest. KCRA in Sacramento says the border collie led the search-and-rescue team directly to his owner after the 53-year-old man fell off a cliff in a remote section of the forest last week. A team of 25 volunteers followed the man’s last cellphone signal to a nearby location where they found the dog. The Nevada County, California, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue unit says the dog ran through the forest about 200 yards to flag down searchers and led them back to the injured man who was airlifted to a hospital with broken ribs and a broken hip. “Great work and skill by all involved today and for the Border Collie he was transported back to Grass Valley and given a well deserved dinner,” said a post at the Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Facebook page.
