Dogs Allowed on New York’s Governors Island for First Time

Dogs are being allowed on New York’s Governors Island for the first time ever. They can take the ferry over with their humans on Saturdays from 7 am to 3 pm. “Winter Dog Days” begins this weekend and continues through May 1st. Leashed dogs and their humans can go wherever they’d like on the island’s 172 acres, located in New York harbor 800-yards from lower Manhattan. There’s a centrally-located park for off-leash canines.
