Estimated Number of Tornadoes Now at 500 in Severe Weather Streak

The estimated total number of tornadoes now sits at 500 after more confirmed twisters spread across the Lower 48 yesterday. There were about 20 reports of tornadoes, mostly affecting Texas, Iowa, Illinois and Oklahoma. This continues a streak of severe weather across parts of the Midwest and Eastern United States, adding up to two full weeks of devastating, often deadly tornado activity. Forecasts say more thunderstorms will arrive in the mid-Atlantic and parts of West Texas today, making more tornadoes possible.
