Freeze Watch for the Region Friday Night

Cold air is forecast to arrive in the Midwest and Northeast, possibly breaking temperature records this Mother’s Day weekend. It could also bring rare snow to parts of the Northeast. Temperatures are already below average for much of the East, but it’s about to get even colder. By Friday, it could feel more like March than May with temps 10 to 25 degrees below average. Snow is possible from parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, upstate New York and sections of New England.

In the Region, there’s a Freeze Watch for Friday night, when temperatures could drop to the upper 20s. The high on Saturday is expected to reach the lower 50s.

The National Weather Services advises to plan for the likelihood of needing to protect sensitive plants.
