Holcomb Announces Child Care Efforts for Workers Amid Virus Outbreak

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has announced additional efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, including a new guidance for child care. Holcomb says workers who continue to take care of others and help Hoosiers keep food and supplies in their homes have a critical need for child care. The Indiana State Department of Education and Family and Social Services Administration are encouraging school corporations to open schools on a limited basis and provide child-care services for emergency workers and other essential employees. The DOE is also offering guidance to school systems to take in order to open facilities and maintain a safe environment, including collecting children’s healthcare records, allowing extra time for deep cleaning and keeping groups of students in separate areas of buildings.
