Franciscan Alliance is heading up an over 500-acre development in Crown Point. A new Franciscan Health Crown Point hospital will be at the center of the development, bringing multiple partners together to transform the city’s southeast side into a destination for advanced health care services, medical education, and also commercial, retail and residential development. The new space could also be a new home for Andrean High School. The site is on the southeast corner of Interstate 65 and U.S. 231, which is currently the home of Franciscan Health Franciscan Point and a University of St. Francis facility.
The development is in response to population growth in south Lake County and nearby areas in Porter, Newton and Jasper counties. Crown Point Mayor David Uran says the new development will create new jobs and professions, including using local trades and skilled labor force in constructing the project. The current Franciscan Health Crown Point hospital on Main St. will continue to operate as the new site is developed.
