Total Lunar Eclipse Visible in the Region this Weekend

A total lunar eclipse – producing what’s sometimes informally referred to as a ‘Blood Moon’ because of the ruddy color during the totality of the eclipse – will be visible in Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area this weekend weather permitting, said the Adler Planetarium. The full moon will begin to pass into the Earth’s shadow at 8:32 p.m. Sunday, May 15, and reach the point of greatest eclipse – when the darkened moon may take on a reddish color – at 11:11 pm. The forecast predicts partly cloudy skies Sunday night.
